MITCHELL John William. Private, 20157, 6th King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, formerly 47190, Royal Garrison Artillery. Died of wounds 7th September 1915 from injuries received at Mesopotamia. Born at Rawtenstall, Rossendal Valley, Lancashire. He was a friend of Miss Rachell Tattersall, sole legatee who was granted a war gratuity on the 7th February 1916, revised on the 2nd August 1919. He was the son of Helliwell and Margaret Ann. In 1911 he was living with his father was now a widower and his sister, Mary A at Wales Cottages, Newchurch, Cotterdale, Lancashire. He was employed as a carter.
DOWNES Albert. Private, 16/508, New Zealand (Maori) Contingent. Died of enteric fever, 9th September 1915. The son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Downes, of Kohukohu, Hokianga, Auckland, New Zealand.
Both at rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta. Plot B Row IX Grave 6
