Sergeant Major John Victor (Jack) PARSONS WO2 No. 2956 then No.240878
2nd/5th Gloucestershire Regiment.
Died 23 June 1957 at Cheltenham General Hospital. Resided at 13 St Paul's Street South, Cheltenham.

Son of Henry William and Julia Parsons nee Bloxham (married 9 March 1891 at St Johns Upper Hollows, London), husband of Elsie Lillian Parsons nee Askwith formerly of The Cross, Tewkesbury. They married 8 April 1916 in the parish church Tewkesbury.
Groom's name given as John Vincent Parsons and his occupation was soldier.
His father Henry Parsons joined the Army Ordnance Corps as Sergeant No. 511 aged 44 and 81 days, occupation pensioner on 24 September 1914. Discharged 6 October 1914 unfit for military duties.

Story of above posted in a shop exhibition in Main Street, Tewkesbury, opposite the War Memorial.
