John STENSON. Private G/6417, 3rd Middlesex Regiment killed in action at Loos on the 29th September 1915 age 25. Born 11 March 1890, Fairfield, Buxton, Derbyshire. Son of Peter and SarahStenson nee Kidd. 1901 residing with his parents and siblings at 5 Heaton Place, Fairfield, Buxton. 1911 residing with his parents and siblings at 1 Heaton Place, Fairfield, Buxton, occupation Deliverer in Stone Quarry. A War Gratuity was granted 8 May 1916 to his mother Sarah and his fiancée Mary Cartwright. Revised to his mother 17 October 1919.
Commemorated on his parents’ memorial at St Peters churchyard, Fairfield, near Buxton, Derbyshire and also on the Loos Memorial, France.
