- Pilot Officer 33432, John Sandes BARNWELL. Royal Air Force died 19th June 1940 aged 20. He was awarded the Kings Medal at RAF College, Cranwell 1939. Son of Marjorie Barnwell of Stoke Bishop, Bristol and the late Captain Frank Sowter Barnwell. His father was killed in a flying accident at Filton, Bristol his brothers Richard and David also fell whilst with the RAF.
Commemorated on a family memorial in St Helen's churchyard, Alveston, Gloucestershire and is buried in Scopwick Church burial ground, Lincolnshire
