John Richard STOPPARD, He was Private 3165, 6th Reserve Battalion, Sherwood Foresters. Son of Born 1881 to Samuel and Elizabeth (k/a Lizzie), nee Pettit. 1881-1901 with his parents and siblings at Eyre Street, Clay Lane, Clay Cross, Derbyshire. 1901, occupation coal miner hewer. 1911 at same address with his widowed mother and siblings, occupation coal miner. Joined the army 22nd October 1914 aged 34, occupation Labourer of Clay Cross. Discharged 8th December 1914 under Para 15 of the King's Regulation. (No reason given) died 4th December 1920 aged 39.

At rest in Clay Cross Cemetery, Derbyshire

His brother Thomas fought and died in the Great War
