Private 24216551 John REID, 8th County Tyrone Battalion. He was off duty when he was shot dead by the PIRA at his farm at Annaghroe near Caledon, County Tyrone on the 9th March 1977 aged 52. At rest in Minterburn Presbyterian Churchyard, County Tyrone.

A UDR man was shot dead when he went to check cattle that he owned on a remote farm near the Monaghan border. The man was a full time member of the regiment and was from the Caledon area of Tyrone. He had driven to the area in his van and was found dead in a pool of blood near his vehicle. Two gunmen were involved in the incident and a number of shots were fired at the man who was named as 53-year-old Mr John Reid, a bachelor from Main Street, Caledon.
This memorial is at the Ulster Grove at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire. Please note. There are NO names inscribed on the memorial. Virtual Memorial to those who lost their lost their lives
