John MASON

Private 21933 John MASON. 70 Transport Coy, Army Service Corps, late of Northallerton Yorkshire was accidentally drowned 9th June 1907 aged 22 years
Prior to enlistment he was a clerk, he enlisted on the 30th January 1904, Born about 1885 to John and Ann nee Trenholm . In 1891 he was living with his parents at Railway Cottages, West Side, Northallerton, Yorkshire. His mother died in in 1894 and his father remarried in 1896 to Sarah Rhodes. 1901 he was with his father and stepmother still at the Railway Cottages, Castlehill, Northallerton.

Some notes from what remains of his army records. He joined the Army Service Corps at Aldershot 30th January 1904 aged 18 years and 11 months. He left Bordon Camp for Malta on the 27th September 1905 and disembarked at Malta on the 6th October 1905. His father, stepmother and brother Tom were his next of kin and they were living at Stratford Street, Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
