HUGHES John. Private, 25751, 2nd Cheshire Regiment, died 17th August 1916, aged 37 years. The son of William Hughes, of 22 White Street, Birkenhead.

JEFFERY Thomas Walls. Private, M2/181532, 688th M.T. Coy, Royal Army Service Corps, died 17th August 1916. Born at Mavis Enderby, Lincs. 1881 census he was living with his grandparents James and Elizabeth Todd and Lucy Ann Jeffrey aged 50 at Hagworthingham, Lincolnshire. In 1911 he was living with his wife Lillie nee Andrews who he married in 1899 and children at 52, Ducie Street, New Wortley, Leeds. His was working as a wine an spirit merchant drayman aged 35.

PARKINSON Fredrick. Private, 15296, 12th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment, died 15th August 1916 in Tigne Hospital, Malta of appendicitis. He was married on the 1st July 1911 at the Registry Office, Love Street, Chester, to Eliza Booth. Their children Eliza, born 13th September 1911 and Frederick Joseph born 7th July 1914 both of 7 Castle Street, Chester. He was the son of Joseph and Sarah. His mother had remarried (1901 census) to a William Paddock.

He joined up on the 1st September 1914 aged 24 and 7 months. Lived at 7 Carter Street, Chester and was a labourer by occupation. On the 12th September he was posted to the 12 Battalion, and embarked with the 12 Bn from Folkestone on the 6th September 1915 for France. On the 28th October 1915 he embarked from Marseilles for the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force .
Notes from his casualty form, active service
21st June 1916 at Salonika admitted to 66 Field Ambulance with diarrhoea, transferred same day to 31st Casualty Clearing Station. Next day transferred to 28 General Hospital, P.U.O. (Patient under observation) at Salonika.
13th July 1916 admitted to 20th Stationary Hospital, Salonika with Malaria. 26th July transferred to Hospital Ship Essequibo at Salonika bound for Malta. 29th July admitted into St Ignatius Hospital, Malta suffering from Malaria. 6th August transferred to Mtarfa Military Hospital Reported dangerously ill on the 12th August with tuberculosis of the glands. On the 15th August he died of appendicitis in Mtarfa (Imtarfa) Military Hospital, Malta.
