Private 24208786 John George PROCTOR. 2nd UDR He was severely injured aged 32 in a Road Traffic Accident on the Lurgan Road, 10 October but died in hospital 24 October 1970 aged 32. His civilian occupation was a lorry driver and he resided in Tandragee. At rest in St Andrews C of I Churchyard, Milltown, Craigavon.

The 10 October 1970 he was on mobile patrol along the main Portadown to Lurgan road when the patrol stopped a car travelling in the direction of Lurgan at Ballynamoney cross road. He and another soldier were interviewing the occupants when a car travelling in the other direction towards Portadown struck them both receiving severe head injuries. The accident occurred at 1-25am.
