John Edward SHIELDS

John Edward SHIELDS. Stoker 1st Class SS118468 Royal Navy on HMS Marlborough. Born 17 November 1899 at Camberwell, London enlisted 6 June 1918 on HMS Pembroke, civilian occupation general labourer. Son of Robert Henry and Sophia Shields. 1911 he was residing with his parents and siblings at 6 Grainger Street, Camberwell, London. Died 23rd January 1923 aged 23 years at Royal Naval Hospital Malta of syphilitic ulcerations of larynx, septic pneumonia, heart failure associated with chronic nephritis. His mother was informed of his death 24 January 1923.
