Sergeant John CLELAND, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers who died at Middleburg, Transvaal, South Africa 8th May 1901 aged 30. In 1897-98 he served in the campaign on the North Western Frontier, India and in 1900-01 in the South African War and received a medal for Distinguished Conduct in the field. He was the son of John Millen Cleland. He is commemorated on a family memorial in St Malachy's Churchyard, Hillsborough, County Down, Northern Ireland.
