Company Quartermaster Sergeant (CQMS) M2/099871, John Albert Howell Royal Army Service Corps. Died 2nd December 1918 aged 41.
Son of Reuben and Eliza Howell, of Leysbourne, Campden husband of Dora Howell, of Church Street Chipping Campden
Buried in St James Churchyard, Chipping Campden, Churchyard, Gloucestershire
Some notes from his army record His occupation prior to enlistment was a Motor Driver. He enlisted on the 27th May 1915 at Grove Park, Greenwich, London and his age was 37yrs and 210 days.
He married his wife Dora nee Stead 14th October 1902 at Pudleston, Leominster.
in 1911 he was residing with his wife and children at Cedar Mill Lane, Chipping Campden and his occupation was given as a Secretary.
He enlisted at the rank of Private and on the 18th August 1915 at Bulford Camp was appointed Acting Corporal without pay on the 29th August 1915 still at the same camp was appointed Acting CQMS without pay
The 4th September 1915 at Calne, Wiltshire he was promoted to CQMS. Motor Transport, Army Service Corps
He served in France from the 22nd April 1916 to the 3rd May 1916 and was discharged from the army at Grove Park, being no longer physically fit was for war service under Paragraph 392 (XVI) King's Regulations He suffered from Diabetes Mellitus Glycosuria from which he died of at Church Street.
