Japanese J8M1 Shusi Sword Stroke

Japanese Navy attempt at a single engine jet interceptor fighter. Loosely based on designs of the famous German Messerschmidt Me-163B Comet. A total of 7 aircraft were built before the wars end, the one and only J8M1 flew on July7th, 1945. Ending in failure, while climbing after take off the under powered engine quit, resulting in crashing the plane and killing the test pilot. Upon latter examination of the plane the engineers discovered defective installation of the fuel system and modified the other 6 planes but none flew before end of WW2 under their own power.
