WATTON, James. Private 95234, Royal Army Medical Corps who died on 16 November 1916 age 32. Son of Thomas and Jane, husband of Betsy Watton. In 1911 he was living with his wife and children at Back of Wesley Street, Wolverhampton, occupation edge foot polisher. At rest in Wolverhampton Cemetery, Staffordshire.
Some notes from what remains of his army records. He joined the RAMC on the 25th August 1916 at the RAMC Training Centre, Sheffield. He was aged 31 and 56 days. Lived with his family at 14 Frost Street, Monmore Green, Wolverhampton. He was married in Wolverhampton on the 10th September 1905 to Betsy Hughes. They had three children, Thomas, born 10th September 1905, James, born 3rd June 1907 and Winifred Jane born 25th February 1912 all at 14 Frost Street, Monmore Green. He was admitted into Sheffield Military Hospital on the 13th November 1916 and died at 4pm (1600hrs) on the 16th November 1916 of diabetes, as stated in his records.
