MILLS James Private, 18029, 6th South Lancashire Regiment, formerly 4547 Manchester Regiment. Died of wounds 2nd September 1915 from injuries received at Gallipoli. . Born at Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, lived at Dunkinfield Cheshire.
Some notes from what remains of his army records.
He joined up on the 8th September 1914 aged 22 years. He lived with his parents at 11 Hanover Street, South Audenshaw near Manchester. In 1911 he was employed as an iron moulder. He was posted to the 4th Manchester Regiment as private 4547. He was transferred to the South Lancashire Regiment on the 7th April 1915. On the 26th July 1915 he was posted to the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force and died of wounds in Malta on the 2nd September 1915.
He was married to Miss Sarah Stansfield on the 3rd July 1915 at St Peters church, Ashton-under-Lyne. He was aged 22, Private 10829, South Lancashire Regiment, living (stationed) at Moor Lane Camp, Great Crosley, near Liverpool. His wife was aged 24, employed as a frame tenter and was living at 48 Walbeck Street, Ashton under Lyne. In 1920 his widow now called Sarah Sawyer, wife of John was living at 64 Victoria Street, Ashton-under-Lyne. His parents were in 1915 living at 281 Astley Street, Wood End, Dunkfield, Cheshire.

McKINNON Alexander. Trooper, 537, 1st Australian Light Horse. Enlisted 26 August 1914 aged 31 years, civilian occupation, miner. His next of kin was his father A McKinnon of Brown Hills, Pitglassie, Scotland. His will was made out on the 18 July 1915 to his sister, Mary McKinnon, Sister, Australian Nursing Services. Station at City Hospital, Little Bromwich, Birmingham. On the 18 July 1916 now at Military Hospital, Thornhill, Aldershot. On the 9 May 1915 he embarked from Australia to joind the M.E.F. at Gallipoli. The 7 August 1915 he received a gunshot wound to a leg on the Gallipoli Peninsular, later invalided to a hospital in Malta. He died of his wounds, 1st September 1915.in Valletta Hospital and was laid to rest in Pieta Military Cemetery 1st September 1915

GILL Albert. Private, 5203, 11th Divisional Army Cyclist Corps. Formerly 12148, West Riding Regiment Died of dysentery, 31st August 1915, aged 20 years at St Andrews Hospital, Malta. . Son of John and Harriet Ann Gill, of 22 Paget Street, Keighley, Yorkshire.

He joined up aged 19 years and 121 days and posted to West Riding Regiment. He lived with his parents at 22 Paget Street, and was employed as an automatic machinist. On the 1st July 1915 he was posted to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force. He fell ill with dysentery while on active service. There is no record as to where he was treated but he was invalided to England from Mudros on H.M.Hospital Ship Ascania. He died in St Andrews Hospital, Malta from dysentery on the 1st September 1915, as detailed in his records
