James McKinley DAVIE, Cornelius GEILVOET, Frederick LANE

DAVIE James McKinley, Private, 95, 7th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Died of his wounds 16th May 1915, aged 28 years. The son of Robert McKinley and Jane Sophia Davie, of 146 McPherson Street, Carlton North, Victoria, Australia. Inscribed on his memorial. "A loving thought, a silent tear, makes your memory ever dear."

GEILVOET Cornelius. Trooper, 640, 1st Australian Light Horse. Died of his wounds, 24th May 1915, aged 26 years. The son of William and Katherine Geilvoet. Born in Dignams Creek, New South Wales. Inscribed on his memorial. "loving memory of our dearly beloved brother. Thy will be done."

LANE Frederick . Sergeant, 877, D Company, 9th Battalion, 1st Australian Division. Died of his wounds, 25th May 1915.
Some notes from his army record held by the National Archives of Australia. He was born about 1887 at Darsham, Saxmundham, Suffolk, England and at some stage emigrated to Australia. He joined up on the 19th August 1914 aged 30 years and 8 months, occupation, carter and embarked to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli Campaign and he was at Alexandria on the 2nd March 1915. On the 25th April 1915 he was wounded in Gallipoli treated in the field and was discharged fit for war service on the 17th May 1915 only to shot in the chest and lung at Anzac on the 19th May 1915. He was on board Hospital Ship bound for Malta when he died of his wounds and was laid to rest in Pieta Military Cemetery. His next of kin was Miss Florence Grummitt of Eagle Farm Road, Hamiliton, Queensland. It appeared that his parents were not alive, and it was not known if he had any siblings. He made his Will on the 15th April 1915 at Lemnos Isle, Aegean Seas. He had previously served with the Suffolk Regiment.
