- James JOHNSTON. Lieutenant Colonel of the 2/8th (VIII) The Kings Regiment Born 12th June 1820 in North America and died 29th December 1865 aged 45 after a long illness at Fort Manoel, Malta.

Letters od Administration (with the Will annexed) of the personal estate and effects of James Johnston formerly of the Town and County of Southampton but late of Malta a Lieutenant Colonel in the 2nd Battalion of Her Majesty's 8th Regiment of Foot deceased who died 29th December 1865 at Malta aforesaid were granted at the Principal Registry to Jane Johnston of 47 Margaret Street, Regent's Street, in the County of Middlesex spinster the sister one of the residuary legatees named in the said Will she having been first sworn.
