James Forsyth DUNNING. Commander, Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve. Born14 February 1905 in the Registration district of Cheshire. baptised 15 March 1905 at Hoole, Cheshire, son of John Hamlet and Alice Maud Dunning nee Starr. 1911 residing with his parents at 73 Urban Road, Sale. 1939 he was at 7 Carmelite Street, Fire Floats and Patrol Boats of the London Fire Brigade at Station 65. He was Sub-Officer, London Fire Brigade Heavy Works. He was married to Edith Irwin, nee Pallant former wife of Angus Irwin. He re- married in 1953 in the registration district of Ware, Hertfordshire to Diana Shirley, nee Eastwood. He died in Malta 28 December 1993. An English gentleman. Served in WW2 and was involved in the evacuation of troops at Dunkirk which took place from 26 May to 4 June 1940. He was Temporary Lieutenant H.M. Yacht, Caleta (Armed Yacht) He made one trip, saved 43 troops, all landed in England.

At rest in St Lawrence Cemetery, Birgu Malta.

His wife died in Malta 23 October 2009. Burial place not located.
