James Dermot NEILL. Lieutenant, 13th Royal Irish Rifles attached to 108th Machine Gun Company
Born 5 December 1886 at 62 Wellington Park Belfast to Sharman Dermot and Anne Symonds Neill nee Tomlin, later of Ardmoyle, Holywood, Co. Down.
1901 residing with his parents and siblings at 4 Martello Terrace, Holywood.
1911 with his parents and siblings at 29 Ballycultra, Holywood
His brother Robert also fell in action
Embarked for France August 1915. Killed in action at the battle of the Somme, 1 July 1916 aged 29. His father was granted a gratuity 9 November 1916
Commemorated on his parent’s grave in Holywood Cemetery, County Down also on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
