Jacqueline Elizabeth AURET, VAD Nurse of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Born 1914 Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa to Captain Benedictus Jeremias and Lilian Anne Duckitt Auret, nee Cloete-Smith. Died at sea on the sinking of S.S. Ceramic by a torpedo from German Submarine U-515, 07 December 1942 aged 28. The ship was en-route from Liverpool for St. Helena, Durban & Sydney. There was only one survivor from the 656 people aboard.
