Jack HURRELL. Only child of Sergeant 9668 George Hurrell, Royal Army Medical Corps and Lizzie who died 15th January 1905 aged 2 years and 9 months.

At rest in Tabraxia Cemetery, Malta.

Details re his father -
In 1911 aged 38 he was his wife and two children at 107, Earlshall Road, Well Hall, Eltham, London. Quartermaster Sergeant with the Royal Army Medical Corps.
Some notes from what remains of the army records
He joined up at Woolwich on the 16th May 1892 aged 19 and 10 months. Lived at Selling Kent, occupation, a paper maker.
His movements.
Aldershot, 16 May 1892 - 12th October 1894.
Singapore, 13th October 1894 - 4th April 1898
Aldershot, 5th April 1898 - 3rd October 1902
Malta, 4th October 1902 - 17th September 1907
Home, (Aldershot) 18th September 1907 - 25th April 1914. On the 11th November 1907 he was in Cork, Back in Aldershot in 1908.
On the 25th April 1914 after giving three months notice he left the army after serving 21 years and 335 day. He was discharged to his intended place of residence at the Colony Hospital, Grenada, West Indies.
Promotions.
Lance Corporal 8th February 1899. Corporal, 18th November 1899. Lance Sergeant, 8th January 1901. Sergeant 14th May 1901. Quartermaster Sergeant 16th March 1909.
He was married on the 25th June 1900 at West Ham to Lizzie Darby, spinster. They had the following children.
Jack, born 8th April 1902 and died in Malta 15th Janaury 1905
Arthur George, born in Malta on the 5th November 1906, and Winifred May born at Woolwich 13th September 1908.
