Born 23 June 1868 at Old Machar, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland to William and Isabella Cruickshank, nee Mutch. Scottish 1871 census - With her parents and siblings at 05 Catto Square, Aberdeen. 1881 with her parents and siblings at 03, Yeats Lane, Aberdeen. England 1901 Now a nurse in the district of South St Pancras, London
Drowned at sea on the sinking of HMS. "Salta" when she hit a mine laid by German submarine, UC-26, half a mile North. of Whistle Buoy, Le Havre. 10 April 1917 aged 48 years. The ship sank in nine minutes.
Her service medals issued 29 August 1923.

Isabella Cruickshank formerly of Aberdeen, thereafter of 16 Fitzroy Square and latterly of 46 Rasleigh House, Thanet Street, London, sister, Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Nursing Service Reserve, is believed drowned 10 April 1917, in the loss of H.S. Salta, testate. Confirmation granted at Edinburgh 9 November 1917 to William Brown, Norwich Road, North Walsham, Norfolk and John Fraser, 107 Sunnyside Road Aberdeen, Trustees and as such Executors nominate under Will or Deed and Deed Assumption, dated 23 April 1904 and 18 May, recorded in Court Books of Commissariot of Edinburgh, 8 November 1917. Value of Estate, £340, 12. 5d.
