CREED Harry (Some confusion) Found military record (Burnt Document) for Private 98509 Harry Creed, 313 Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps. He enlisted 21st November 1916 and had his medical at Horfield Barracks, Bristol. He gave his age as 40yrs and 242 days,(C1875) and was residing with his wife Flora Annie nee Smith (whom he married 15th April 1906) at Bunting Hill Newmarket Nailsworth, and gave his place of birth as Horsley. He served most of his time at Curragh, Ireland from the 11th February 1917 until he was transferred to Class Z Army Reserve on Demobilization at Woking and gave his home as Nailsworth. There is no memo, note etc that he had died. I have found a Harry Creed who died in the registration district of Stroud in 1952 aged 76. (Any suggestions??)

Son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Creed, of Box, near Nailsworth, Gloucestershire. Buried in Hochheim Hill Cemetery, Worms, Rheinland Pfalz, Germany

DOWDESWELL Thomas Private 1864, 3rd Gloucestershire Regiment. Died at home of Tuberculosis on the 26th August 1916. (Burnt document) he enlisted 7th April 1913 gave his home address as Downend, Horsley and was a walking stick maker, working at the mill in Nailsworth aged 19yrs and 6 months, next of kin was his brother William Charles. He was posted to France 11th November 1914 He first complaind of chest pain whilst returning from La Bassie April 1915. On his medical board 2nd June 1915 he was stated that his condition was not started by war service but was aggravated by active service. He was discharged from the army on the 2nd July 1915

There is a Frank, born 1891 and is the son of Frederick (Born Nailsworth, occupation Quarryman) and Annie of Nailsworth who in 1901 were residing in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire. by 1911, Frank was serving with Royal Marine Light Infantry in Felixstowe as Private (Poss PLY14441).
