Born 22 November1888 at Arbroath, Forfarshire. Nurse at the Prisoner of War Camp, Oswestry. Died at the Prisoner of War Camp Hospital, Oswestry less than three weeks after joining the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service. Cause of death was influenza and pneumonia 18 October 1918 aged 28.
Ms Bennet, of Arbroath, Angus, trained in nursing at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary before serving at Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service. Often referred to as an “unsung hero”, Ms Bennet was a parishioner at the Parish Church of St Cuthbert on Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, and is the only woman commemorated on the wall of the church’s memorial chapel.
