Extended Description
Two UDR soldiers from B Company, 6th County Tyrone Battalion.
Lance Corporal F0450446 Heather Catherine Jean KERRIGAN aged 20 (4th Greenfinch to be murdered) aged 20.
and Private 24244325 Norman Johnston McKINLEY aged 31 both from an eight-member foot patrol, were killed in a 200 lb (91 kg) PIRA landmine attack near the border at Second Corgary, near Castlederg, County Tyrone. Detectives believed the bomb was triggered a few hundred yards across the border. Immediately after the explosion, gunmen opened fire on the foot patrol as colleagues radioed for help. The West Tyrone Brigade of the PIRA claimed responsibility for the attack.
Both are at rest in Castlederg Cemetery, County Tyrone. Heather is in Grave V.2 and 4. Norman in Grave Y.6 and 8.
