Harry St Claire Clifford WEBB Sergeant 34991 5th Gloucestershire Regiment
Born 1879 at Charlton Kings Gloucestershire to Charles Clifford and Jane Archer Webb, nee Dodge. 1881 residing with his aunt and uncle Martha and William Webb at 20 Hamilton Street, Charlton Kings. 1891 still residing with his aunt and uncle now at Grove Cottage, London Road, Charlton Kings. Husband of Winifred Helen Furley who he married at St Mary Church, Cheltenham 29 January 1900.
1911 with his wife at 2 St Georges Retreat, Cheltenham.

His parent in 1901 were residing at the King William Inn, Sheep Street, Stow on the Wold. His father was a stone mason and Beer House Keeper. 1911 his father was residing with his sister Louisa Pearse at Cemetery Walk, Stow on the Wold, Both were widowed.


On the 20 May 1913 aged 34 years and 8 months he joined 5th Gloucestershire Regiment as Private 1883., civilian occupation, house painter. On the 20 June 1913 he was promoted to Band Sergeant. He was discharged on the 4 August 1914 and rejoined to next day with embodied service . Promoted to Sergeant Drummer with the 5th Battalion on the 20 September 1915 and was posted on the 30 November 1915 to the 83rd Reserve Battalion, Territorial Force as Drum Sergeant 1883 He was on a Medical Board on the 24 July 1916 where he was deemed physically unfit. He was discharged to pension 7 August 1916. His disability was cardiac dilation. His disability started when he was under canvas at the Isle of Wight August 1914.
On the day he was discharged he was issued armlet No R5223
On the 20 December 1917 he was with the 4th Reserve Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment at Seaton Deval.

Died at Seaton Delval, Northumberland 10 January 1918. His widow was granted a war gratuity on the 30 May 1918 revised 5 December 1919

His medal record shows army number as 1883

He was laid to rest at Cheltenham Cemetery Gloucestershire on the 16 January 1918.

The army number on his headstone does not show in his record.
