Harry George SHEPHERD, Stoker 1st Class 310901, Royal Navy on HMS Bacchante. Born 29th June 1888 (as stated on his naval record) at Colchester, Essex to George Henry Benjamin Shepherd and Sarah Kate nee Blandon. In 1901 he was living with his mother and stepfather Frederick Herbert at 105 Bergholt Road, Colchester, occupation aged 14, errand boy. Enlisted 17th October 1906, occupation prior to enlistment, iron and brass moulder. Died in a hospital in Malta 9th December 1908 aged 20 of pneumonia. His mother was in formed of his death 9th December 1908. This stone was erected by the Officers and Ship's Company of H.M.S. Bacchante. Gone but not forgotten. At rest in Plot B Grave 168, Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta
