Harold Jardine TRAVIS

TRAVIS, Harold Jardine. Lance Corporal 33031, 3rd Cheshire Regiment died 16th July 1917 aged 21 at Wallasey Town Hall Military Hospital, Merseyside. He is at rest in Macclesfield Cemetery Cheshire.

He joined up on the 23rd November 1915 and was posted to the army reserve to await mobilization. He was aged 19 years and 149 days old, he was by occupation a clerk, and he lived with his parents, Thomas Edward and Elizabeth at 54, West Bond Street, Macclesfield. He was mobilized on the 24th January 1916 and on the 29th March 1916 he was promoted to Lance Corporal. During his training he was taken ill from a training camp to an Auxiliary Hospital, Brighton where he remained for 13 weeks. he was then transferred to Wallasey Town Hall Military Hospital on the 2nd May 1917 and he died of endocarditis, (heart infection) on the 16th July 1917 at 8.40am. He was award both war medals.
