3.3.14 Squadron Leader, Harold Hindle JAMES (OBE) 66 Squadron, awarded Croce Di Guerra. Born 1st March 1895, at Clifton, Bristol to Henry Rosher and Mary Edith James nee Hindle. In 1901 he was residing with his mother widowed grandmother Edith Hindle at (Glen Tannard) Piermont Avenue, Isle of Thanet, Kent. 1911 aged 17 years lodging with his aunt, Grace Lilly Hindle at 18 Jasper Road, Camberwell, London, occupation, student. Died 2nd February 1969 in Malta. His residence in Malta was Xara Palace Hotel, Mdina, Malta.
Served with 10 and 14 Sqdns. James continued in the peace time RAF, In 1929 he was serving with the HQ Iraq Command at Hinaidi as an Intelligence Officer. In 1967 he was living in Cairo and arrested by the Egyptian Police as a spy, he is buried in Malta.
