He was instantly killed by aa PIRA remote controlled bomb hidden in a derelict house whilst on foot patrol at the junction of John Street, Dungannon on the 11th April 1974 aged 34. At rest in All Saints churchyard, Crossdernett, Pomeroy, County Tyrone.
