Son of Sarah Hamblett formery Sheppard of Lower Guiting and the late George Thomas Sheppard [Somerset Light Infantry] and husband of L.R.Sheppard of Flat 107, Durham Buildings, York Road, Battersea, London. Buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
SMITH Alfred Thomas. Pte 8/106, Otago Regiment New Zealand Expeditionary Force killed in action between 6th and 7th August 1915. Son of Thomas and Sarah Smith, of Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. He joined up on the 13th May 1914 aged 27. His occupation was an attendent at Seacliff Mental Hospital, New Zealand. He had previously served 5 years with the 5th Gloucestershire Territorials, discharged to go to New Zealand. His brother, George S was his naxt of kin who lived at 20 Vauxhall Road, Gloucester City and later at Lower Guiting, Gloucestershire. Commemorated on the New Zealand Mmeorial, Chunuk , Turkey (including Gallipoli)
