Extended Description
SMITH Gordon. Private, 2947, 1/5th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, died 1st January 1916 at Malta. Born at Greenock, Renfrewshire, son of to John and Elizabeth. 1901 he was living with his parents, John and Elizabeth and siblings at 17 Brachelston Street, Greenock. His mother Elizabeth then called Childs was granted a war gratuity on the 3rd April 1916.

Some notes from what remains of his army records. Six badly damaged pages. He joined up on the 4th August 1915 (embodied service) He was born in 1899 and lived with mother Elizabeth Childs at 21 Velville Street, Greenock. He died of septicaemia in Malta. His sister Grace V.H. Smith was serving in France with, RAF, Women's Royal Air Force.

GARDNER Charles. Private, 20005, 9th West Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 21194, Hussars. Born at Pimilico, London, to Charles. Died of wounds 31st December 1915 at St Elmo Hospital, Malta. His father was granted a war gratuity on the 4th April 1916.

STANBRIDGE Albert Edward George. Private, 23000, 9th Lancashire Fusiliers, previously served as Private 1983 with 10th Hussars. Died 31st December 1915 at Malta. Born at Tooting, baptised on the 7th November 1897 at Tooting Graveney, lived at Streatham, both of Surrey. Son of Charles and Eliza Standbridge of 5 Blegborough Terrace, Blegborough, Strentham, Surrey.
