FREEMAN George Badkin, Captain (late H.M.S. 97th Regiment.
Died at Measham 30 May 1892 aged 69
Born 2 May 1823 at Clifton, Staffordshire.

His service records shows that he came up through the ranks and served for 21 years and 2 months with 97 Regiment of Foot.

Private, 26 July 1844 with Coldstream Guards. Corporal, (Still with same unit) 29 December 1847. Sergeant with the 87th Of Foot 1 January 1849, Quartermaster still with the 87th of Foot, 5 July 1861.

He served in the East Indies from 31 August 1849 – 14 May 1860.

China, 15 May 1860 – 16 January 1861.

India, 4 November 1861 to 1 April 1862

He was married at Rawalpindi, Bengal 15 November 1854 to Maria Dunne by the Reverened Shaw, Church of England.

At rest at Measham Cemetery, Leicestershire.
