British made and dated 1873.
One of the drawbacks of the Gatling was the black powder ammunition,which fouled the chambers and jammed the mechanism. By the time cleaner smokeless powder was invented in 1880's the Gatling was almost obsolete. This Armstrong made example fires a .65 calibre cartridge which was adopted by the Royal Navy in 1874.
