G069 NOEL STEPHEN TINDALL. Acting Commander of Shore Base HMS Egmont, Malta. Born 26th December 1881 to John Tindall and Isabella Mary Tindall, nee Harris, of Sidmouth, Devon. 1891 residing with his parents at High Street, Leighton Bussard, Bedfordshire. Enlisted 15 July 1895 as Cadet on Training Ship HMS Britannia, promoted to Lieutenant 26 June 1901. He was awarded the Goodenough Medal for 1901 being the Sub-Lieutenant who achieved the highest gunnery examination while also achieving a first class certificate in seamanship.
London Gazette dated 1 April 1902. Admiralty, 29th March 1902. The undermentioned Acting Sub-Lieutenants have been confirmed in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant in His Majesty's Fleet Noel Stephen Tindall. Dated 26th December 1900 and others. 1911 residing with his wife at 16 North Bailey, Durham. Occupation Lieutenant, Royal Navy. Died at Royal Naval Hospital, Bighi, Malta 15th May 1919 aged 39 of broncho pneumonia. Wills and Admin, Ancestry - His residence in Ireland was Bay View, Bantry, County Cork. Died in Malta, his effects went to his widow Elizabeth Rose Tindall, nee Horne.
