- G053 WALTER GEORGE STOCKER. D.S.M. Acting Gunner, 220505 Royal Navy on HMS Cameleon. Born 10 October 1885 at Uplyme, Devon to Harry and Henrietta Maria Stocker nee Pippen. 1891 he was residing with his parents and siblings at Loom House, Uplyme. 1901 still with his parents and siblings at Cannington Lane, Uplyme, occupation aged 15, farmers boy. Enlisted 10 October 1903 aged 16 years on HMS Impregnable as Boy 2nd Class. Civilian occupation, gardener. On the 10 April 1915 he was awarded the DSM, (London Gazette). In March 1917 he married Hetty Elizabeth Baker at Devonport, Devon. Died by drowning (suicide) 9th June 1917 aged 31 years in Malta. His home address was 74 Station Road, Ford, Devonport.
