G052 JOHN RICHARD (JACK) BIBBY. Flight Sub Lieutenant 1476-J22 Royal Naval Air Service. Born 1892 at Niagara Falls, Canada to Mrs John Birds. He was serving in Malta at the Royal Naval Air Service Torpedo school in Malta. He was testing Short 310A seaplane 8317, locally known as the Short 320. On returning to his base to land when he fell for some explained reason from his aeroplane, landing in the neighbour of Benghasia. He received multiple injuries 11 June 1917 aged 25 years. Doctor Pearson, Royal Navy rendered immediate attention but his efforts were to no avail, death being almost instantaneous. Husband of Mrs. Olive May Evis (formerly Bibby) of 9 Belvedere Apartments, Bloor Street, Toronto, Canada.
Memorial erected by Officers and Men of the Royal Navy Seaplane Base Malta and by great kindness of the Officers and crew and troops on board the French Transport, Eugune Crossos.
At rest in Plot G grave 52 Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
