G090 JAMES PHILIP ALFRED BREMRIDGE. Lieutenant Commander Royal Navy on HMS Delhi. Born 30 September 1893 at Winkleigh, Devon to Reverend Henry and Dora Brembridge, nee Milne.
Enlisted 15 May 1906 at Chatham. Promoted to Acting Sub-Lieutenant 15 May 1913, Sub-Lieutenant, 15 March 1914 Lieutenant and Lieutenant Commander 30 January 1924. He was awarded his Master of a Foreign going Ship Certificate having attained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Navy 27 October 1920. Issued at Plymouth. On the 25 February 1922 he married Mary Eleanor Isobel Laurence at Holy Trinity Church, Brompton, London. He was admitted and died the same day in Royal Naval Hospital, Bighi, Malta 21 September 1926 aged 27 years of epidemic of encephalitis. (Disease that attacks the brain) Between 1915 and 1926 this disease spread around the world. Nearly five million people were affected, third of them died. Wills and Admin, Ancestry - His residence in England was Woodhouse, St Georges Avenue, Weybridge, Surrey, formerly Royal Naval Barracks, Devonport. Died on date and place stated. His effects went to his wife.
His brother Godfrey served in the Army Service Corps in the Great War and survived, James was his next of kin. His other brother Midshipman James Philip Henry on HMS Repulse died in action 13 December 1941 off Singapore.

At rest in Plot G grave 90 Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
