G089 ALFRED POYNTER DEWING

G089 ALFRED POYNTER DEWING. Lieutenant Royal Navy on HMS Dauntless. Born 28 April 1898, baptised 5 June 1898 at St George Church, Brandon Hill, Bristol. Younger twin son of Arthur May Dewing and Sarah Eleanor Dewing, nee Devonshire. 1901 residing with his parents and siblings at Camerton Rectory, Somerset, father was a vicar. January 1911 he was a Naval Cadet (Student) aged 12 at the Royal Naval College, Osbourne, Whippimgha. Promoted to Acting Sub-Lieutenant, 15 November 1916, Sub-Lieutenant 15 July 1916, Lieutenant, 15 December 1918.
Admitted into Royal Naval Hospital, Bighi, Malta, 26 April from a fractured skull and shock following an accident during a fit of temporary insanity (Suicide). He died from his injuries 11th May 1926 aged 28 years and laid to rest 13 May 1923. Wills and Admin, Ancestry - His residence in England was The Rectory, Otley, Suffolk. His effects went to his father. He served in the Great War.

At rest in Plot G grave 89 Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
