G083 THOMAS PHILIP KYNVIN. Torpedo Gunner J1318 Royal Navy on HMS Malborough. Born 2 November 1892 at Portsmouth, Hampshire to Thomas James (Painter in the Royal Navy) and Emily Kate Kynvin nee Gillingham. 1901 he was residing with his parents at 30 Wellington Street, Southsea. Enlisted 1 May 1908 onto HMS Ganges I. as Boy 2nd Class J31318. In 1911 residing with his married mother and siblings still at Southsea and serving as Leading Seaman, Royal Navy.
He went up through the ranks and was appointed Petty Officer 1 January 1917. During that period, he was slightly wounded in action 31 May 1916. On the 1 April 1923 he was promoted to Acting Gunner. Died in Royal Naval Hospital Bighi, Malta 9 July 1924 aged 31 years. from pulmonary Tuberculosis.
His father was born 18 February 1872 at Chichester, Sussex, enlisted 25 November 1891 on HMS Victory II, as Painter 2nd Class 164085 last ship he served on was HMS Hermes 28 June 1912, with the rank, painter 1st class.
At rest in Plot G grave 83 Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
