G081 FRANK CHARLES PIERCE. Commander, Royal Navy retired, of Valletta, Malta. (His last Military Service was as Gunner, Royal Field Artillery). Born 14 February 1871 at Liverpool to William Pierce. Enlisted into the Royal Naval 15 January 1884. His father William of 32 Markfield Road, Liverpool was his next of kin. 15 May 1886 promoted to Midshipman, 11 September 1890, Acting Lieutenant, 30 June 1893 Lieutenant. He was placed on Retirement List with the rank of Commander dated 29 April 1912. His naval records give reference that he was in and out of hospitals suffering from stomach problems. Discharged from navy 10 August 1917. Husband of Marie Antoinette nee Stivala who he married in Gibraltar 24 February 1902. They had three children, Ellen Eva, born 10.3.03, Gibraltar, Elizabeth Eva born 21.8.05, Malta and Mary Josephine born 25.8.08, Ireland.

He was formerly Private 768486 of 2/29th Artists Rifles, London Regiment. Resided at 26 Antrim Mansions, England’s Lane Hampstead, London. Enlisted 26 June 1918 aged 47 years and 4 months at Whitehall, occupation, Naval Officer. Previously served with Royal Navy as 28VB8. He was invalided out. 19th July 1918 he was transferred to No 4 Officer Cadets Reserve Brigade Royal Field Artillery (Territorial Force) Discharged as Gunner 268230 on the 17 September 1918 to 26 Antrim Mansions (Invalid). Admitted to 2nd Eastern General Hospital, Brighton from 25 July 1918 to 13 August 1918 with gastritis. Died in Royal Naval Hospital, Malta 31st January 1924 aged 53 years of hemiplegia. Wills and Admin, Ancestry - His residence in England was 173 Golden Terrace, Hampstead, Middlesex. Died on date and place stated. His effects went to Marie Antoinette Pierce, widow.
