G077 ALFRED JAMES FYSH. Gunner 214015 Royal Navy on HMS Diligence. Born 17 September 1884 at Mile End Old Road, London, baptised 12 October 1884 at St Dunstan and All Saints, Stepney, Tower Hamlets, London. He was residing with his parents Lewis Williamson and Rebecca Fysh, nee Rayner at 26 Rectory Square, Stepney. Enlisted 12 March 1901 at Chatham on HMS Impregnable as Boy 2nd Class. He married Georgina Annie Richardson on the 5 September 1909 at St Mark and St John’s Wood Church, Westminster, London. His father was deceased. He passed his entrance for Petty Officer 7 September 1909. 1911 he was residing with his wife and daughter at 152 Richmond Road, Gillingham, Kent. He became a Freemason and was initiated 19 May 1917 into the Inhabitants Lodge, Gibraltar. On the 6 July 1917 he was promoted to Acting Gunner. Died on board his ship 20th July 1922 aged 38 years of heart failure caused by fatty degeneration of his heart.
