Major Stanley Frank Frost, Royal Army Service Corps
Stanley Frank Frost was born 19 February 1916 in Stepney, London. Young Stanley was the 4th child of 5 children, whose Parents, struggled to bring up the family in the east end of London. His father was killed in action as Stretcher bearer just 10 days before the end of the 1st world war. Stanley worked tirelessly and in the mid-thirties he managed to start a business in Ilford, a small DIY shop that was to support him and his new wife (who sadly passed away in 1946) and hopefully the family that they both hoped would follow.
Fate stepped in with the start of the 2nd world war. Stanley was conscripted and torn away from his family and joined, as a private in the Infantry, the Beds and Herts.
Stanley faced this new challenge with the determination that he had shown growing up without a Father, into and during the depression and soon his talents were recognised by the military, he was offered a commission into the Royal Army Service Corp. His service took him through North Africa, across and into Italy, Involved in the battle at Casino and onward into Ebental Austria where he found himself at the end of the war.
He got home for a short time, but as was the case with many soldiers, he had to return to Austria, for although the war had ended there was much work still to do.
He was promoted to the Rank of Major and whilst based in Klagenfurt Austria he married a young Austrian girl.
He had the Option to stay in the army but sadly he knew that if he were to stay, his new wife would not be accepted into the military fold, the wounds of war were fresh in so many peoples minds and to present a wife that most people considered to be so recently the Enemy would be too much for Ernestine (aka Erna) to bear.
So he resigned his commission at the rank of Major and left, travelling back together to the east end of London, again he knew he would face resentment from many Quarters, but resolved this by Taking a Job abroad with the shell oil company in 1948 as a supervisor far away in Venezuela, South America, later joined by his wife in 1949. There they found happiness and a good life, bringing 3 children into the world.
Major Stanley Frank Frost Passed away in 2004 25 Feb and was laid to rest with his Wife Ernestine (AKA Erna).
Buried in St Margarets Churchyard, Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, Wales
