Born 19 July 1883 to Frederick and Elizabeth Beringer, nee James of High Street, Portaferry, County Down.
Killed in action at Vimy Ridge, France 9 April 1917 aged 34.
Commemorated on a family memorial at Ballyphilip Catholic Churchyard, Portaferry, Northern Ireland. At rest in Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery Souchez, France.

Joined up at Ottawa Canada 4 August 1915 aged 32 years and 1 month. Embarked from Halifax on S.S. Missanabie 19 June 1916 disembarked at Liverpool 28 June 1916. Transferred to 87th Battalion at Bramshott Military Camp, Bramshott Common, Hampshire. 10 August 1916 from Bramshott posted to France, disembarking at Le Havre France. 28 January 1917 he was attached to 67th Pioneer Battalion returned to his unit10 January 1917. Reported missing on or since 9 April 1917, later reported buried at Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery Souchez, France

S.S. Missanabie was sunk 9th September 1918 by German submarine U-87, 52 miles from Daunts Rock, Ireland.
