Fred ASHNESS

Fred ASHNESS. Private TR/4/79924, 53rd Welsh Regiment died 13th October 1918 aged 18 He was the son of Thomas and Mary Ellen. In 1911 he was living with his parents and siblings at 18, Fence Street, Macclesfield. He is at rest in Holy Trinity Churchyard, Hurdsfield near Macclesfield, Cheshire.
Some notes from what remains of his army record. He enlisted at Warrington, Cheshire on the 23rd September 1918 aged 18 years. He lived with his parents at 65, Union Street, Macclesfield and he was employed as a silk finisher. His father was his next of kin. He was sent Kinmel Park Army Training Camp, Boddelwyddan, North Wales for his training when he fell ill. He was admitted into Kinmel Park Camp Military hospital on the 8th October 1918 suffering from Broncho Pneumonia. He died at 5 pm on the 13 October 1918 aged 18 from his illness.
