Frank Charles Osman WINTER. Stoker 292790, Royal Navy on HMS Prince of Wales. Born 2nd May 1881 at Titchfield, Hampshire, enlisted 14th August 1899, occupation prior to enlistment, Labourer. Died at sea on the 16 from his injuries received on the evening 16th April 1906 age 25 by scalding caused by a violent escape of steam during a full power trial on the seas in HMS Prince of Wales. He died along with Stoker HOOKER and SOUTHALL. In 1891 he was living with his parents Luke and Alice Ann, nee Osman and his siblings at Beacon Bottom, Titchfield, Hampshire In 1881 his father had serving as Leading Stoker in the Royal Navy. His mother was informed of his death on the 24th Apeil 1906. This cross is erected by their sorrowing shipmates.

His father, Luke Winter, was born in 1848 at Titchfield Hampshire, enlisted 1st January 1873, occupation prior to enlistment, farmer. First ship was HMS Hector last ship was HMS Asia. Discharged to pension on the 25th August 1886 as 48055 Leading Stoker.
