Private 47712 Francis James WARD. 2nd Welsh Regiment formerly TR4/32570 Training Battalion. Killed in action 9th November 1917 aged 40 years. Son of Charles and Esther Ward, husband of Susan Louisa Ward nee Beaumont of 28, Union Street, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. Served seven years in China with Royal Garrison Artillery. His widow was granted a war gratuity 13 February 1919, revised on the 8 March and 7 November 1919
Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium His son Sergeant 5948112 William Charles WARD. Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment died 23 November 1941 aged 27 years.
