Some notes from his army records.
He joined up age 18 and 8 months on the 12th April 1918 into the Australian Flying Corps, occupation, student. He was born on the 9th August 1899 to Alfred Ernest and Matilda. His father was his next of kin and he lived at North Lodge, Wendouree Parade, Ballarat, Victoria. He had previously served for 4 years as 2nd Lieutenant, Senior Cadets, in which he was still serving. He was serving with the Aircraft repair section. He was killed accidentally from shock resulting from a Leyland motor lorry skidding.
His notes does not state if he was hit. Being in January it would either had been ice or snow on which the lorry skidded, and he must have been hit, followed shortly by shock.
