To the memory of -

Lieutenant Commander Francis Elliott WALTERS. Born 1871 in Cork, Ireland to Francis Dalrymple and Anne Walters, nee Dawson of Rougemont, Ryde. Drowned aged 27 years.
He left Ardent in a small skiff along with Albert Baker. His body was never recovered.
The effects from his Will went to his father, retired Colonel H.M.Army Late 82nd Regt and (44th Regimental District)

St John the Baptist Church, Ryde, Isle of Wight.
A pew and memorial plaque were presented to the church for the above-named person and his brother

"In memory of Hugh De Lancey Walters. Captain South Lancashire Regiment who died in India 28 April 1906 and Lt Commander Francis Elliott Walters R.N. HMS Ardent. Drowned in Salonika Bay 9 October 1899. by their father and mother Colonel and Mrs E.D. Walters"

His Brother -
Hugh De Lancey Walters died 29 April 1906 at Bilaspur, India. A gratuity was granted to his widow Mary Travers Sarnia Walters, nee Moore £33 3s 11d He was married at Dover in 1905. His widow who remarried in 1922 to Mr Poe, passed away in Guernsey 27 December 1970.

Chief Engineer Albert BAKER. Born 1875 at Shoreditch, Middlesex. The following parents and census may have been him. Son of Clement and Theresa of 107 Pedro Street, Hackney, London. 1891 aged 16 he was Boy under on training HMS Arethusa, Greenhithe, Dartford, Kent.
Drowned aged 25 years He left Ardent in a small skiff along with Francis Walters. His body was recovered on the 17 October 1899
