He was the son of William and was the husband of Mary Gundreda, nee Ewart. When he left the army he gave the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast as the address to which his medals were sent. He fought in the Boer War and the Great War. His last post may have been Boulogne Base. He is at rest with his wife in Dundonald Cemetery, County Down, Northern Ireland.
